Memorial day

Today is the Memorial day.

"Take time this holiday to honor the men and women of the U.S militaty who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our country" because, as Abraham Lincoln said, "Any Nation that does not honor its Heroes will not long endure".

Yesterday I was running around a lake in a big park. There were many families having barbeque with lots of stakes, sausages and souces, childrens playing and running around, colored baloons and American flags.

"It is a day to mourn all who have died in war. A day to remember all the victims, the vast majority of whom are our brothers and sisters who, by an accident of birth, were born on the receiving end of the bombs and the occupations."

Few weeks ago I saw in Santa Monica an art installation on the beach as a silent Iraq War protest. Each Cross, Crescent Moon or Star of David represented a fallen soldier. This is a project of Veternas for Peace: every Sunday from sunrise to sunset, a temporary memorial is created on the beach.
