Yesterday my friend Ryan (who grew up in LA) explained me some important things.
DO NOT GO to the South Central areas of LA, like Inglewood or Compton! In these poor and violent neighborhoods gang members can shoot and get shot everywhere.
If you drive southern in S. Western Avenue you feel an increasing danger and if you get lost around the 120th street you can really feel uncomfortable and unsafe in your car, especially if you are white. Those are black and Mexican areas!
Compton is notorious for gang violence, primarily caused by the Bloods, the Crips and numerous Mexican gangs. Compton's violent reputation was popularized in the late 1980s by the local gangsta rap groups Compton's Most Wanted and especially N.W.A. and Eazy-E, who released the famous albums Straight Outta Compton and Eazy-Duz-It.
Some years ago Ryan went to Inglewood in a friend's acquaintances house. All the people were quite aggressive and suspicious to see a "fucking white man". When Ryan said he went to school with a famous rapper they started to be accomplice.
