...and the Oscars go to...

My friend Ascia organized a get together to watch the Oscars.
We (mostly they) commented on the red carpet action, movies, actors, dresses and everything with white wine and a good variety of cheese.
People put a lot of effort in filling the ballot to win the prize of the night.

I got 11 Oscar picks correct over 24. Surprisingly more than Ascia's friends working in the movie industry. The reasons are:
-I picked up many of them randomly (it is always a good method)
-I voted several times for King's Speech which was awarded of many prizes.
I loved that movie, while the majority of her friends thought it was totally an old style Hollywood movie.

The winner got a bottle of champagne!

Salsa

Ieri sera sembrava di essere in Messico o in un paese caraibico con i musicisti dal vivo e varie percussioni.
Ballerini implacabili che facevano piroettare le ragazze con il ritmo nel sangue.
Carnagioni scure, vestiti colorati, camicie bianche e mohitos.

Little Los Angeles

Los Angeles is endless.
But there are many little Los Angeles.

Little Ethiopia at Fairax and Pico Boulevard.
Little Armenia in Hollywood.
Little Tokyo near downtown L.A.
Little Saigon in Westminster and Garden Grove.
Little India in Artesia.
There is no Little Italy in L.A.
Filipinotown in Echo Parch.
Koreatown in Mid-Wilshire.
The Jewish and Russian district in Fairfax.
Tehrangeles in Westwood, Bevery Hills and Orange County.
Chinatown is too big to be called little China.
"Mexico-town" is everywhere.

ah, I forgot.
Thai-town at Hollywood and Western.

Ocean Strength

Today we were swimming in the Ocean.
Some pelicans were hunting for fish by diving suddenly into the water.
They were following a group of beautiful jumping dolphins.

The Year of the Rabbit

Celebration for the Chinese New Years.
At the botanic gardens of the Huntington Library there were big celebrations this week end.
An ensemble performing classic Chinese music in front a lake and blooming trees.
People in colored silk tissues practicing Tai chi chuan and other dances.
The Year of the Rabbit will be good one.
